Latest reports suggest that the fishing on the beach was better yesterday that it has been for the past week. My top mark suggestion for this weekend would be Portland.

Wind forecast SW 23mph,

Water Temperature: 13*c                 Weymouth High Tide: 4.46pm, 1.85m

Sea Conditions:

Chesil Beach: waves as big as 2m with a rolling swell; water has a milky tinge that will colour up more as the day progresses.

Portland Bill: large swell and a bit rough on the West side, with the East side being a bit calmer, Water is slightly coloured, but less so on the East.

Portland Harbour: Wavelets; water is slightly coloured due to the Easterly wind yesterday. Lots of windsurfers around today

Weymouth Bay: Calm . Water clarity is good.

Chesil Beach forecast: Mackerel fishing will be effected by the lack of water clarity and the fairly strong SW wind blowing in your face, cutting down casting distances. This is ideal conditions for Bass. Other species that are likely to show today from the Portland end are Gurnard, Bream, Smoothound and Dogfish and Pout at night. From Abbotsbury and Cogden end of Chesil Beach you are likely to get Dabs, the odd Plaice, Gurnard and Ray.

Portland: A strong SW always has an effect on Portland. If the water is stirred up too much the Pollock and Wrasse fishing pretty much dies. However the Bass and Bull Huss fishing switches on. Conger should be present during darkness from Chine.

Portland Harbour: It could be a bit of a struggle in the harbour today with the colour of the water. A few Bass might show around Portland Marina walls and Hamm Beach. Flounder and Small Bass can be targeted around Sandsfoot Castle on worm baits.

Weymouth Bay: This is probably the safest bet for some fish today. Plenty of fish were caught all along the length of both piers with some nice Bass caught on small lures.
