Well that wind certainly whipped up Chesil Beach last night putting a lot of colour into the water. It is still just fishable, but I would only be on the beach for Bass today.
Wind forecast: SW 30mph. Current wind: SW 20mph
Sea conditions: Water is coloured with a lot of swell and rough water on the beach. Rock marks on Portland and Kimmeridge Bay still have a lot of weed on them. Water temperature 9.8*c. Weymouth HW 5.23 pm 1.72m high.
Shore fish forecast:It is pretty rough on Chesil but it is still fishable. You might pick up a Bass in the surf with a large mackerel or Squid bait. Only other species you are likely to get today are Dogfish and Pout. If you are looking for some Mackerel off the beach then I would not bother for the next couple of days.
Portland: Rock marks are going to be pretty dangerous, but Portland Bill could well produce some Bass to lures. Savage Gear Sandeels have proved very successful for me down there. Portland Harbour and Weymouth Bay are a good option for some Dabs and Flounder. You might even get lucky and catch a Plaice or two from Weymouth. Stone Pier will give a good variety of fish and will not be so effected by the weather.
Windspit may be a good choice over the next couple of days, as it has a good reputation for fishing during a big South Westerly. Mackerel, Squid and Sandeel are great baits at that mark.
Boats: They are all staying at home today.
