The answer of  course is NO!

Windguru says, we are going to have 60mph winds from the SW on Saturday which means more of the same as we had on Wednesday. Just in case you have any doubt in your mind take a look at the photos below from this week.

Find a sheltered spot away from the madness or better still stay at home and give your gear a new year refresh. Replace your line, replace rusty/blunt hooks  and give your reels some TLC.

Sea Conditions:

Water temperature 9.1°c.

Chesil Beach:  Very rough, unfishable.W

Portland: Very rough with 4m+ waves with  coloured water.

Portland Harbour: wavelets with coloured water

Weymouth Bay: light surf. The water is  coloured.

Chesil Beach forecast: Don’t even think about it

Portland: Keep away from the lower ledges and the beaches such as Church Ope. The only marks that will be fishable are the higher marks such as Chine.

Portland Harbour: I have only heard of some Flounder coming from the harbour over the past weekend. There will be the odd Bass hanging around, so it is always worth fishing with a live Peeler if you can get them.

Weymouth Bay: As I mentioned earlier, Preston Beach is producing fish. A few reasonable sized Bass have been caught, but the remainder of the fishing has been fairly poor. Pout, Dogfish, Flounder, Dab and plenty of pin Whiting. If you want easy fishing, then have a go from either pier. Sea Scorpion, Pout, Pollock and Flounder are all regularly caught there even during the worst of the winter weather.

Guiding & Lessons: Now that we are well and truly in the grip of winter, most of my guiding trips for the next few months will be bait fishing trips. If the weather settles and the water clears for a week, then I will go for Pollock and Wrasse on lures. If you are thinking of booking a Plaice fishing trip, I am going to be running those from the second week of March. Until then it will be Wrasse from the rocks and Cod trips if the weather allows.  Have a look on the guiding link at the top of the page or drop me an email for more details to
