Despite the wonderfull sunshine we have quite a biting Easterly wind that is keeping the tempretures down a bit. Don’t let that put you off going fishing though, as I expect a lot of fish to come of the shore marks today.

Wind forecast: E 15mph. Current wind: As forecast, this should give those fishing Chesil Beach some extra distance on their casts.

Sea conditions: A long rolling swell, so much so that surfers are out in Chiswell Cove. Clear water on most marks except Chiswell Cove where the water is lightly coloured , 9.3*c Weymouth HW 9.45pm  2m high.

Shore fish forecast: Excellent tides today should see more Plaice and Dabs during the day at Abbotsbury, West Bexington and Cogden. Plenty of Dogfish and good numbers of Smoothounds all along the beach Peeler Crab or Hermit are the best baits for the hounds and Ragworm tipped with Black Lug or Squid for the Plaice.  Or if you can get it Mussels.

Ray fishing should be good from the Western end of Chesil all the way to Charmouth. Use fresh Mackerel or Sandeel, and you will also have a chance of a Bass now.

Mackerel are around in decent enough numbers now to make it worth while having a go. The early Mackerel shoals often have Herring in amongust them. Use small Sabaki lures that you would use for Sandeels.

Portland will be a good bet for Pollock and Wrasse. In Portland harbour it is well worth a go on the lures for the first of the Bass, especially as the easterly wind will kick up a bit of a surf in the harbour. Try Sandsfoot Castle beach.

Kimmeridge Bay will now start to produce some nice Bass, Wrasse and Pollock. Lures are without a doubt the best method for those species on the rocky ledges, but Mackerel, squid and worms will also work.

Easy fishing can be had from Weymouth Stone Pier, with plenty of small species all the way along. The Weymouth juniors fish it on a Monday night. I would not be surprised if they picked up a Garfish or two.

Lots of Plaice in Poole harbour, there is a good chance of a small Bass on Ragworm.

Boat forecast: Excellent chance of fish including Turbot and Plaice if you are out with the Weymouth charter fleet.  Smaller boats will struggle with the wind today, so I would sugest Portland Harbour for a mixed bag, especialy Pollock.
