Dab from Portland Harbour

A bit better fishing conditions today, than it has been for the last couple of days.

Wind forecast:  NW 15mph. Current wind: NW 10mph

Sea conditions:  Wavelets with a little bit of a swell running, water on Chesil is milky but the rock marks are clear , 9.8*c Weymouth HW 11pm  1.96m high.

Shore fish forecast: Tides are now starting to return to mid sized tides, meaning that the marks such as West Bexington, Abbotsbury and Cogden will hopefully return to there recent form. If you are targetig Plaice make sure you have plenty of bling on your rig as this will help with your catch rate in the slightly coloured water. Because of the colouration in the water, Mackerel fishing and lure fishing for Bass will not be as prolific as it has in the past week.

Night time fishing all along the beach is producing nice Smoothound with lots of Dogfish and Pout. A few Rays have been caught towards Charmouth.

A few Bass came out yesterday on large Mackerel baits fished just behind the surf at the Portland end of Chesil. Anglers sheltering from the conditions and fishing Portland Harbour ended up with some very nice Dabs in excess of a 1lb and plenty of Flounder. The best marks seem to be directly opposite the Chesil Beach car park, with Ragworm taking all the fish.

Fishing Portland harbour

Boat forecast: Hopefully the charter fleet will be out again tomorrow, but for those in small private boats you can still have some good sport in Portland Harbour and close to the East side of Portland. Reports from the Solent are indicating Black Bream being caught. This is a good indicator that they will start to arrive off Worbarrow Bay in a couple of weeks time

Those getting out to the offshore wrecks will see some nice Pollock as well as some early Cod.
