Had enough of Cod, how about some Plaice fishing?

By Sean McSeveny On November 28, 2014 · 2 Comments · In Chesil Beach, Reports
Plaice fishing is not something that you would normally associate with winter fishing, however we seem to be having a bit of a run of Plaice down at the Portland end of Chesil. This is not that unusual, all that is happening is that the Plaice, like many other species like to shoal up before heading to their spawning grounds. Why they shoal up down around Chesil Cove is a mystery to me.

Undulate Ray Revival

By Sean McSeveny On November 26, 2014 · Add Comment · In Chesil Beach, Reports
Fishing for Undulate Rays over the past two years has been really good, both from the shore and the boat. This has to be put down to the fact that Undulate Rays are on the Red list of protected species, and have been for a number of years. Undulates and a number of other rays are not allowed to be landed commercially

Enjoy the weekend, it could be a Cod one.

By Sean McSeveny On November 21, 2014 · 1 Comment · In Chesil Beach, Reports
Yes Chesil will be fishable this weekend. I know I am a bit late with the forecast this morning, but I had a late night last night editing some new fishing videos, but I have managed to get out and about this morning and have a look around. It is not exactly going to be [...]

By Sean McSeveny On November 19, 2014 · 4 Comments · In Freshwater Fishing
When asked by Sean to write a series of articles and reviews for predominately sea anglers about fresh water angling I was a little confused at first, maybe a little bemused but then the idea began to grow on me. After all this year I was fortunate enough to get out and catch some sea [...]

Timing is everything

By Sean McSeveny On November 17, 2014 · Add Comment · In Chesil Beach, Reports
Cod fishing over the past week has confirmed  some thoughts I have been having for while and that is, that timing is critical to getting good results when fishing. I was lucky enough to get out as soon as the conditions had settled enough to allow safe fishing on Friday. I had fish after only [...]

Wild Bass

By Sean McSeveny On November 15, 2014 · 1 Comment · In Admin, Reports
I am sure that you have noticed that the number of reports and articles have gone down a bit in the past couple of months. There are two reasons for that: Firstly myself and especially Adrian have been busy on the new look website, which will include a lot more articles on marks, more video [...]

Well done to Dave lane for winning the Chesil Cod Open at Abbotsbury yesterday. He managed to land 17 Cod for a total weight of 28lb 10oz, he even managed a treble shot of Cod at one point.  I managed to get out twice over the weekend. I was quite excited that I managed to [...]

Waiting for the storm to pass.

By Sean McSeveny On November 7, 2014 · Add Comment · In Chesil Beach, Reports
Fishing after a storm is normally one of the most productive times, especially during the autumn and winter months. I am desperate to get out and fish Chesil, as I have only been out a couple of times this week. Looking at the wind forecast, I think that Chesil will remain unfishable until late tomorrow [...]

Feels like Cod time again.

By Sean McSeveny On November 4, 2014 · 1 Comment · In Chesil Beach, Reports
The next day or so should be ideal conditions for Cod on Chesil again. After a windy weekend, it looks like the wind will back off for a few days, before it comes back with a vengeance on Thursday afternoon. The water is pretty well stirred up at the moment, but as the wind drops [...]

Catch them while you still can.

By Sean McSeveny On November 1, 2014 · Add Comment · In Chesil Beach, Reports
I mentioned earlier in the week, that it would be a good idea to take advantage of the summer fish that are still around. I took some of my own advice and spent a few days trying to target Bream, Bass and Garfish. I certainly managed to catch plenty of Garfish and a few Bream. [...]
